Corporate Accountability and Transparency

The program advocates for national and international best practices on transparency and accountability in the governance of natural resources. Our interventions empower communities to hold duty bearers to account for their actions and/or inactions. Over the last decades, countries have adopted international and regional initiatives and instruments that promote transparency and accountability in the governance of extractives industry. These include; Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), the African Mining Vision (2008), Mining Policy Framework of the Inter-governmental Forum on Mining, as well as the Land Policy Initiative (LPI) of the African Union (AU) which enshrine principles, policies and commitments aimed at improving overall governance of natural resources at all levels.
Projects and activities pursued under this program focus on advocating for the adoption and implementation of such national and international initiatives that promote citizen participation in transparency and accountabability on the part of government as well as private investors.
